Jerome

There is something about the light and the sky here in Texas. Being away for a few days, it hit me again upon my return. As a photographer, juxtaposing these elements - the light and the sky - against an object is one of my favorite things. 

Inspiring me today is the design work of Emily Jerome and the photography of Eric Ray Davidson. Jerome's lookbook was shot at The Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas. And the clothing is easily as remarkable as the setting.

What is most important to note about Jerome's collection is that she draws her own prints and jacquards. This is exactly the kind of hands-on design that inspires me as both a designer and a photographer.

Alabama by way of Tennessee

 

Today we awoke in Tennessee and are looking forward a workshop with Natalie Chanin of Alabama Chanin at a very cool location in Chattanooga known as Warehouse Row. 

Natalie has written two books Alabama Stitch Book and Alabama Studio Style. I've always found inspiration in her style and commitment to sustainable design and eco-business model. Find earlier posts on Natalie here and here.

Peace, Love, and Amy

 

Amy Butler's most recent collection - Love - debuted in Houston at market last week. Though I didn't get a chance to see the fabrics first hand, I chatted with Amy about her collections over dinner and was thrilled to get a note that they were now appearing on her website. 

The color palette and floral inspirations are stunning. I couldn't be more thrilled for her. Not only is Amy immensely talented, she and her team are some of the nicest and coolest people on the planet.
