Resonance

Saturday was our second round of hosting an acoustic show at the old factory. After the first, I found no words to describe what had happened there. Our friend Kim intervened and wrote an amazing piece here.

Finally I have figured out why I lost my words. There are none. None that can authentically convey the experience to you had you not been there. Still shots, moving images, even audio recordings cannot take you to that moment. Like finding yourself alone in the euphoria of a stunning sunset.

Live acoustic shows, especially ones that feature an interplay between musicians who have a deep appreciation for one another and a love for what they do, are an alchemy of art in process. Much like a painting that develops as an audience watches nearby. Strokes of voice and cord create a piece of art that hangs only in that moment as the vibration settles into the soul.

To each of you who made the journey, thank you. To those who supported from afar, thank you too. The Way Sound Leaves a Room is just out from Sarah. And Will's Little Raider is his most recent solo venture that deserves some serious spinning. And check out Ryan's work with Western Fifth.

For now, this is all I will share as I am still enjoying the resonance on my soul.

Live Music at the Factory

Pull up an old piece of abandoned furniture and listen to some good live music with us at the Factory. On Saturday, October 1, Will Johnson (Centro-Matic) is joining forces with rising Texas star, Sarah Jaffe for an acoustic show.

A limited number of tickets are now on sale through Undertow Music. 

Before their show, we are throwing a pre-show with our friend Ryan Holweger of Western Fifth who is joining us all the way from Minneapolis for the event. You can grab dinner on the spot from an old airstream and just kick back and enjoy a unique musical opportunity.

The Disaster.

ISO Residue

If there were ever an album poised to catapult an indie group like Centro-Matic into the larger public consciousness, Candidate Waltz is it. In previous albums, they've mastered literary, angst-driven, moody, and experimental. I've found myself putting Centro-Matic songs on repeat long before Candidate Waltz dropped but this is the album that more people will put on repeat. It is smart. Well-edited. And the perfect antidote to summer.

Centro-Matic will be at Fitzgerald's tonight in Houston. Then see Will Johnson solo at Cactus Music in Houston tomorrow. The tour wraps at the Mohawk Sunday night in Austin.

First Factory Concert.

Will Johnson is a soul fountain of art and music and we were beyond honored to host his solo acoustic at the Factory last Thursday. His music and energy and ethic suit the vibe out there to a tee and have left an indelable impression on us all.

Here are several pieces of new art that Will is traveling with on his solo tour. These are out to get framed at the moment. I love all of them but I was especially moved by Roberto Clemente quote...

"Any time you have an opportunity to make a difference in this world and you don't then you are just wasting your time on earth."

We are wishing Will the best on the remainder of his tour and are already looking forward to Centro-Matic this summer!
